Ode to Veggie Straws

Dear Veggie Straws Team,

When you set out to produce a new better-for-you snack option, I’m sure that your aim was simply filling bellies in exchange for some profits. I have to tell you, though, you accomplished so much more!

Our kiddo, Kendall, operates differently due to a neurological disability, and transitioning from one activity to another is especially difficult for her. Now, that’s the polite, supportive way to say that our parenting style often looks like we are negotiating with a terrorist. What I really mean is that each and every morning our house has been filled with high-pitched shrieking (Kendall) and begging (us), as we attempt to get her out of bed, dressed, and off to school. We have gone from one reward to the next, desperate to find one that is truly motivating for her: books, toys, tv shows, and endless snack options. Nothing worked long-term.

Until…we found Sensible Portions Zesty Ranch Garden Veggie Straws.

It is amazing how quickly this child who previously screamed “never, never, never!” at the very idea of getting out of bed on a school day will now race downstairs with just a mention of earning a bag of Veggie Straws! Miraculously, the same clothes that she used to hurl across the room now go on quickly and easily, and, somehow, the hairbrush that seemed like a torture device before no longer causes extreme pain.

I hope that this continues to work as well as it has during the past couple of months–I have to warn you and your forecasting team that her moods do change like the wind. For now, we have set up an Amazon Subscription for regular deliveries, as we have been regularly cleaning out our local grocery stores (we apologize to their forecasting teams, as well).

Your product has given us so much more than just a tasty snack. The full-flavor crunch appeals to her Sensory Processing Disorder, which has her constantly seeking high sensory input from her foods, and the natural, non-GMO, lower fat choice relieves some of our parental guilt for giving her snack foods for breakfast. Most importantly, though, it has allowed us to transition from tearful, stressful mornings to starting each day peacefully. You can’t imagine what a relief this has been for a family that works exceptionally hard to maintain positive balance.
